You may remember this sweet girl’s face from her birthday session just a few weeks ago. This time around, I got to hang out with big brother too! We had so much fun running around at Milligan College. We ran – a lot – and I even got tackled a few times. Those are my favorite sessions! Loved working with you all again and I hope you enjoy your images!

bear n friends {local business spotlight}

I am excited to be starting a new feature on my blog about local businesses that moms love! The first business I chose to feature is one of my most favorite places ever and is run by 2 of my favorite people ever. Welcome to Bear n Friends of Kingsport!

Anna and Larry Rogers own and operate Bear n Friends in Kingsport. And 5 month old Vivian owns and operates Anna and Larry!

Bear n Friends was started in 1994 in Johnson City and the Kingsport store was opened in 2008. Larry states, “Because the Johnson City store is owned by Debbie, and the Kingsport store is owned by us, we may carry slightly different products. Our family feuds are over toys!” They say that they pick their toys based mainly on intuition. They go with what they like, and it it isn’t up to par, then they drop it. You will find a wide variety of toys for ALL ages (grown up kids too!) in their store.

Larry’s favorite toy currently in the store is the Beam-o (giant frisbee you can see hanging from the ceiling in the picture above). Anna loves the Whipple to make cupcakes. And they both are loving the new game Tenzi (pictured below). My husband and I can also vouch for Tenzi! We love it!

When asked what he loves the most about running his own toy store, Larry says ,”I love the freedom and challenges associated with running my own business but the most overwhelming reward has come recently with the birth of our baby girl and the support and love of the community.”

Be sure to visit Bear n Friends in East Stone Commons in Kingsport – moving soon to downtown! I promise you won’t be disappointed with the quality of toys, helpfulness of the owners, and the cuteness of the baby you will find hanging out!

As if this little guy hadn’t already stolen my heart (he is our neighbor), he completely won me over at our session last weekend. The child did every single thing I asked him to do, laughed, smiled, and was, simply put, a charmer. I need for him to give my little guy some tutoring on a successful photo shoot! Saheim, you were so awesome and I hope your mommy and daddy love your images! See you in the ‘hood!

Happy Birthday Kaylyn! It was so much fun meeting up with this cutie for her Birthday Club shoot last weekend. She started out kinda shy, but I eventually won her over and got some great smiles (Ok, well maybe the balloons and cupcakes helped…but I still think I might have had a little bit to do with it!). Can’t wait to hang out with you and your big brother in just a couple of weeks!

I was so excited to meet up with this family. I met mom back in December and found out she had been carrying my card in her purse for quite awhile so I am glad we finally got them on the schedule! Hank was such a sweet guy – super fun and full of personality. And Maggie….Well, let’s just say she stole my heart (I *might* have a soft spot for red heads!) what’s in a name

I get asked a lot how I got the name of my business. It’s really a pretty simple story, but one that holds a lot of meaning.

Clark and I met on match.com. During one of our very first chats online, he asked me if Jill was short for anything. My reply was “No, it’s just Jill.” From then on, he started almost all of his conversations online with “Hey Just Jill.” When I started my business, I started thinking about names and nothing grabbed me. I wanted something clean and simple, but really didn’t want to go with “Jill Lewis Photography.” I wanted something a little bit more catchy. And then I remembered those first conversations and the minute “Just Jill Photography” rolled off my lips, I knew it was the right name.

It’s funny how integral Clark has been in my business….before he even knew my love of the camera and encouraged me to pursue my passion, he named my business. I am grateful to share life with him and have him by my side supporting me every step of the way.

I met up with Kaleigh and Jason for their engagement session on a sunny, but chilly morning – but they were pros and you can’t even tell how chilly it was from their pictures. They rocked it out for the camera. They needed little to no direction and were total naturals! I so enjoyed meeting you both and spending some time with you. Thank you for allowing me to capture this special time in your lives!

maddox {newborn lifestyle}

Meet Maddox. I had so much fun with this family. Mom and I went to college together, so it was a blast to catch up with her and meet her beautiful family! Maddox was just as sweet as he could be. Big brother Eli was so much fun and was my big helper…and also told me all there is to know about Thomas the train! Biggest brother Justen was a trooper and didn’t act at all put out that his Saturday morning had to be spent taking pictures. You can tell he loves his brothers! Thank you so much for letting me spend the morning with you all! I hope to see you again soon!

ollie {nine months}

I was so looking forward to seeing Ollie again for his 9 month session. Last time I visited with him, he was just a newborn! Time goes so quickly. We had a great time wandering around Jonesborough and he was quite the charmer. I adore 9 month olds! This one is no exception…and his big brother? Well, he is pretty fantastic too!
